On September 5th, millions of you came together to start something unstoppable. The list of participants is long. It includes celebrities who volunteered their time and talent; companies across the country who donated valuable assets; and philanthropists, corporations and other organizations who made breathtaking contributions. Most importantly, it includes private citizens who watched the show, donated generously, and are building the Stand Up To Cancer community from the ground up.
Each and every one of you has taken ownership of this moment to build a movement that will benefit all of us. We have raised funds, enthusiasm, and awareness. This is where the end of cancer begins -- and it's an amazing beginning.
Going forward, it will be important to maintain momentum by asking friends, family, neighbors and strangers to join this cause. Early next month, our Scientific Advisory Committee convenes to work on the critical next step. Chaired by Nobel Laureate Phillip A. Sharp, Ph.D., this prestigious group of 20 experts will determine the most promising areas of research -- and the Dream Team members who will collaborate on it -- to be funded with the more than $100 million raised to date.
But right now, it's time to thank everyone who has been a part of this historic start. With great pride, we stand with you in the firm belief that one day, you will be able to look back and say you were a part of making this dream come true.
