Every day we read a new way of getting cancer was discovered. Like cell phones. Wake up america our freeways are loaded with diesel trucks that are pumping toxins into the air we breath. causing a huge rise in cancer. And it is only getting worse. The government and environmental protection agengies are losing ground. Our next president should step up and unite all parties and governments to fight the war on stupidity. We must be stupid to ask if cell phones cause cancer when we as a nation sit back and watch as our environment turns to a waste dump. The most important thing that you can do to protect the lives of the citizens you serve is to provide them with clean air and water/ the two most vital things to human longevity. Our country is so blind in its efforts to grow as a productive nation that what we see as a threat was only an excuse to gain more capital. I have a ? for anyone who reads this, The question is are you afraid of what your government tells you to be afraid of like scary terrorist. Im afraid of our leaders lack of Perspective in the light of the true treats that face our world. Pollution is serious stuff people, and your government turns a blind eye. Greed is destroying the planet god created for you to live on. Open your eyes, ears and mind and then only then will you find answers. Cancer like other life tragedies will only be killed when the greed to keep it going is eliminated. Greed fuels cancer, stop the greed for capital and you can have a cure. Tragic example of poor leadership has caused our nation decades of pain and suffering to come. Had George Bush taken the money that he funded the war with and used it for fighting true threat we would live in a much safer world. In no way do i fear sadam, castro, micky mouse or any other dictator not worth mentioning here. But what i do fear is that we as an intellectual species have become so blind to what is real and what is not. I fear cancer, global warming, earthquakes, and most of all i fear we as a civialization have succumb to messages and are trained to think a certain way. Imagine the man he would have been had he funded cancer re and other health issues facing our nation. It takes a great man to see what is important to humanity and the survival of the planet. Al Gore is on the right track. Gore would of been good for the world but i guess the devil won that war and got bush. I dont think bush is a bad guy i just think alot of what a president does is determined by the party which is all about greed. Needless to say we have squandered many chances to make a good planet for our future generations. There is still time to correct our mistakes but first we must admit them. george Edginton
I'm glad to see someone else is worried that pollution is one of the major causes of cancer. I used to trust large government agencies and government leaders, but I just recently read the book Poisoned Nation by Loretta Schwartz-Nobel. This book put together the many examples of large companies and government agencies that chose not to do quality research or inform the public in order to avoid spending money on cleaning up the environment or in order to continue receiving money from the corporations creating the pollution. According to this book, "While the United States waits for proof of harm, the European Union has aggressively targeted all chemicals that are believed to cause cancer, birth defects, and infertility." (pg. 113) In America, some probable carcinogens are even in every day things such as make-up. It's scary to think that some corporations care more about money than people's lives. I would have thought this idea was crazy before reading this book and learning the facts. This book also pointed out the existence of government leaders, everyday people and grassroots organizations that actually do care about people's health and the environment. I just hope the people who care outnumber the people who are obsessed with greed.
