August 18, 2012 8:08 AMAs some of you may know, my oldest sister Kathy was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) last November. Over the past 9 months she spent over 120 days in the hospital, went through 3 rounds of chemo, plus a bone marrow transplant (which I was lucky enough to donate). While she put up a valiant fight, the cancer overtook her last Saturday. For those that didn’t know my sister, she was a doctor and spent her life helping others, especially children. Now it is our turn to help. Kathy loved the Stand Up 2 Cancer foundation, which supports innovative ways to cure cancer, as well as fostering collaboration amongst researchers, rather than having them compete for funds.
